Pavlova in a Bowl

Last year a neighbor made this dessert for her Birthday party and I have since made it on several special occasions for my family.  I have previously made Pavlova, but this is a lot quicker and equally delicious.

Recipe for about 10-12 people:

10 oz Meringue Cookies
32 oz Frozen Raspberries
30 oz Whipping Cream

Crumble the meringues.  If you have small ones, like I did, then reserve a large handful for a decorative last layer.  Whip the cream until it begins to thicken (soft peaks - should still be slightly pourable).

In a large bowl layer crumbled meringue cookies, frozen raspberries and whipped cream. Repeat layers.  Refrigerate for 3 hours.

Done and enjoy!

Vacation Flowers

Hi everyone!  A day late and not with the topic that I intended, but here I am.  I was going to start up with a More of Less post yesterday, but I will have to put that off by another week.  My dad is in the hospital and so my mind had been a little all over the place.  I did, however, want to quickly share with you some of the pictures that I took while on vacation.

We spent 10 relaxing and much needed days in Safaga, Egypt located by the Red Sea and about 570 km from Cairo.  During our stay I took pictures of the flowers located on the grounds of the resort.  A feeble few I was able to identify, but I have no idea what the names of the remaining are.  Maybe some of you can identify some of the other plants or can correct what I have identified incorrectly?

I have quite a few post topics floating around in my mind and I will have to see how I will squeeze it in.  It is odd how in such a short time this little blog have become so important to me and it really is a good outlet.  Somehow therapeutic even.

Have a great day everyone.

More of Less

It's Monday (just in case you haven't noticed) and that means time for another installment of "More of Less". To change things up a bit I decided to go to another room this week - the future guest room, maybe office for me.  When I took the picture of the painting that I have from my Grandmother last week I took a look in the drawer where I keep most of my gift wrap supplies and found this:

Not very inspiring is it, but a perfect candidate for my little column.  Out with all the saved ribbon and gift bags from gifts we received.  Why was I keeping it all if I didn't like it and had no intention on re-using it?  I don't really have a good answer for that, but it is gone now...

and I am not letting it back in.

Next week there will no column on Monday as we are going on vacation (last chance for an off-season, whenever we want vacation before Sam starts the 1st grade in August), so the next installment is planned for Tuesday, April 19th.  Happy Monday!
